In consideration that while heed of very much in the assistance of the Government, and very anxious to obtain a Building Grant for St. Joseph's College, on which we have expended for us a very large sum of money, that to obtain any grant, we cannot forget that to obtain we must bind ourselves down to maintain the building as an Educational Establishment for ... a ... We are irrevocably in Trustee for it would not therefore be to the advantage of the Mission to tie up a valuable property unless the amount of Building Grant to be obtained from the Government is in some degree adequate to our reasonable expectations.
And we hope that His Excellency in submitting any representation to the consideration of the Secretary of State, will not lose sight of the fact that under an amount approaching the maximum permitted by the Grant-in-Aid Scheme be sanctioned, the Mission much, however much in very regret the loss of Government support, maintain its freedom of action over the school and school buildings.
